Distribution centre in Verden (Aller) is one of the best factories in Germany

Berlin, 23 October 2018 - HelloFresh, the global market leader in the meal-kit sector, was named German winner for the "Industrial Excellence Award 2018". The company was awarded the prize for quickly scaling a complex supply chain as pioneer of the "fresh food at home" industry. Since 1995, the "Industrial Excellence Award" (IEA) competition, formerly known as "The Best Factory", has been honouring European industry and service companies that set extraordinary standards for international competitiveness.

"The Industrial Excellence Award is a great endorsement of the many initiatives we have planned and implemented to build a robust and scalable supply chain in the shortest possible time. Our product requires the highest standards along the entire supply chain, which we meet despite increasing complexity. The company’s strong growth in recent years was also made possible by our operational excellence. We are pleased that these efforts have been rewarded with the Industrial Excellence Award Germany 2018," says Markus Windisch, COO of HelloFresh, about the award.

"HelloFresh is a very successful pioneer in the business of meal-kits: the customer receives the product in the right quantity, in the shortest possible time, at his individual address and at a reasonable price. This is not only an economical, but also an ecologically sound alternative compared to traditional food purchasing. HelloFresh has a very compact and agile supply chain from source to customer, leveraging knowledge of customer buying behaviour to plan capacity and attractive offerings. Internal processes and packaging are continuously improved or best practice projects - also with external partners - are implemented globally and directly by the employees ", explains Prof. Dr. med. Arnd Huchzermeier, academic director of the competition, awarding the prize to HelloFresh.

HelloFresh follows in the footsteps of companies like Infineon Operations from Neubiberg and Zalando Operations from Berlin. The competition will take place simultaneously in eight Western European countries and Turkey this year. The "Industrial Excellence Award Europe" will be presented on October 25 at the annual Industrial Excellence Conference in Berlin. There, HelloFresh competes against the national winners from Spain, France, Switzerland and other countries.
